Families in rural communities that don’t have a well or a water pump installed depend on rivers, puddles, or any other open water sources prone to waterborne diseases. Young girls typically hold the responsibility of gathering and carrying heavy water containers several times a day.

Mission Partner Update: From the Frontlines of Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe

Recently, the Design Outreach team visited Africa and traveled to Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The three-country trip had been the first opportunity to travel in 2020. It provided an incredible opportunity to set up critical supply chain depots, install LifePumps, LifePumpLinks, provide training for local installers to continue the work, and set up the Malawi Field Office.

The last few days in Malawi and Zambia have been great – in Malawi we’ve witnessed the installation of 2 new LifePumps (in Mtenje and Chikwandawala villages), provided further Training of Trainers, started setting up our Malawi LifePump warehouse, and met with the Bwaila Rotary Club. In Zambia met with the local government and the NGO Living Water International.
