“Lives across the world will be changed forever because of the LifePump™,” said Dr. Greg Bixler, CEO and Co-Founder of Design Outreach. “A hand pump that is built to reach twice as deep as the average hand pump and run years before any maintenance is needed. We are one-hundred percent committed to serving these communities and drawing closer to our ‘zero days without water’ goal.”
Recently, the Design Outreach team visited Africa and traveled to Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The three-country trip had been the first opportunity to travel in 2020. It provided an incredible opportunity to set up critical supply chain depots, install LifePumps, LifePumpLinks, provide training for local installers to continue the work and set up the Malawi Field Office. The productive trip did more than just show us the importance of excellence in engineering and logistics, but also the real life-changing results that occur when people’s most basic needs are met.
In the Mtenje village of Malawi, during the installation of a new LifePump, Dr. Bixler had the opportunity to talk to two children (see picture) who had recently been hospitalized for dysentery. “It was eye opening to see not only the importance of what we are doing, but the urgency as well,” said Dr. Bixler. “It’s a matter of life and death for millions of people. And it’s amazing to know that now thanks to the LifePump, those two children, and thousands of others who do have the LifePump, don’t have to drink contaminated water anymore.”
The trip was inspiring and motivating. It created momentum to push ourselves even harder in 2021 to make a difference in the life of the world’s most vulnerable people. God truly blessed Design Outreach in 2020 and we are boldly asking God to do even bigger things in 2021. We look forward to sharing the journey and answer to prayers with you in the coming months.
We hope these snippets of the trip inspire you as well, to know that your sacrificial and obedient giving is making a huge difference. Thank you for your support and partnership.
