DO team completes MaxLife pilot installations
We are thrilled to report that all 40 India Mark 2 (IM2) MaxLife pumps have now been successfully installed in Zambia. The pumps will be monitored for use and performance to prove the technology’s profound impact on community water access.
In partnership with Living Water International, this two-year pilot program will impact an estimated 10,000 people, laying a foundation for widespread scaling to transform communities across Zambia and beyond.
During the IM2 MaxLife pump installation at Deeper Life Church, the congregation’s minister, Pastor Lovemore, expressed deep gratitude for the new pump. He explained that the community began construction on a new church building but had to stop the project midway because of lack of funding. Without access to a reliable source of safe water, the community had to purchase water from a neighboring village. But with the new IM2 MaxLife pump, they will be able to save the money they were spending on water and hopefully continue their church building project.
“Water has been a challenge,” Pastor Lovemore said. “We normally get our water from shallow wells, and our neighbors with boreholes, they sell us a drum for 15 kwacha (0.77USD). It has not been easy for us as a community to draw water. Down here, it’s rock, and some people have been trying to drill and they’ve been finding dry boreholes. … They’ve failed to deliver the water to us. So for years, we have been really struggling with water, so we really appreciate you’re coming here.”
Abraham Malambo, a pump technician who was trained on MaxLife and was present at the Deeper Life Church installation, explained that the IM2 MaxLife configuration is simpler than the traditional IM2 setup, making installation and maintenance easier.
“I’m glad to be here,” he said. “On behalf of my organization, I think we are going to take this as a pilot to see how best we can adopt this type of pipe installation. I think this is one of the easiest so far. This is quite impressive. I don’t like it—I love it!”
For communities like those in Chimbombo District, access to safe and reliable water through an IM2 MaxLife pump could be the pathway to better health, education, and economic opportunity. This project will not only provide water for 10,000 people like Pastor Lovemore, Abraham, and their neighbors but will also lay the foundation for widespread adoption of the technology, which has the potential to revolutionize rural water access in developing countries.
