DO’s latest solution—the MaxLife™ Centralizer—is helping to reduce pump breakdowns, extend maintenance intervals, and minimize the financial burden of broken traditional hand pumps for people like Esther, a Chairlady in Gidiyele, Malawi.
“We were facing a lot of challenges,” Ester told us. “It was taking less than one month before the pump broke, and we were drinking unsafe water. We were contributing money frequently, and repairs were taking too much time. Now we have water continuously, and therefore we are able to do other duties within our families.”
There are nearly 7.5 million traditional hand pumps installed around the world, but at any given moment, 40% are broken. Once a daily source of clean water, these broken pumps now sit idle…a painful monument to a promise not kept.
