Meeting Needs
Last week, thanks to the incredible generosity of an anonymous donor, we were able to complete our second food distribution in Nyanyala, Malawi, an area that has been devastated by drought and famine. During the distribution, 1,000 people received bags of essential food items such as rice, beans, and cooking oil. Before the official distribution began, Gospel Outreach Coordinator Pastor Abel Sauti-Phiri preached the good new of the Gospel, and Bible storybooks were distributed to each family. The distribution even supported local economic activities as bicycle operators found a business opportunity to transport food for those who could not carry the bags themselves.
Police were present to ensure maximum security, and Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) officials verified the name of each beneficiary to guarantee a safe, orderly, and fair process. In addition, government officials and traditional authorities addressed the crowds to thank Design Outreach and our partners for coming alongside the government to help save lives during this difficult time. In fact, the highest-ranked Traditional Authority of the area called Sub TA Nyanyala welcomed Design Outreach and prayed that God would continue to bless DO’s ministry and our partners so this important and life-changing work can continue.
We are praising God for this incredible opportunity to meet people’s immediate physical needs while sharing with them the hope that we have in Jesus Christ.
