New LifePumpLink Public Dashboard Provides Real-time Access to Pump Data—Anytime, Anywhere & for Anyone

DO’s revolutionary LifePumpLink™ is a satellite-based remote monitoring system that delivers real-time data pertaining to LifePump uptime, usage, and performance to field staff across the globe, significantly enhancing the efficiency and impact of water supply programs. By monitoring the performance of LifePumps, LifePumpLink can detect changes in usage and provide alerts, enabling technicians to respond proactively and minimize pump downtime.

In 2023, our R&D team achieved significant breakthroughs in LifePumpLink capabilities. Through the generous support and collaboration of our Columbus-based partner E2 InfoSystems who contributed over $300,000 in pro bono software development work in a single year, our team has made dramatic software improvements to the mobile app that supports LifePumpLink, adding capabilities that will streamline reporting and tracking for our field staff.

Some of these updates include a new and improved maintenance module, future site planning capabilities, and inventory management features—all of which will improve our field staff’s ability to meet the critical needs of a growing number of LifePump communities. Prior these developments, the field staff were filing paper notes and documentation, a cumbersome and inefficient process.

“(When we saw the field staff’s) excitement when they started using the software, which made a difference and made things so easy, that was really exciting,” says E2 InfoSystems Owner Satish Albert, who grew up in India and has witnessed the water crisis firsthand. “The kind of excitement they had when they used it, that was really awesome for us to see.”

In addition to these important developments, our team’s tireless work has led to the official launch of a real-time LifePump data dashboard accessible to the public.

The dashboard displays an interactive map of all LifePumps across the globe and enables anyone to access pump usage and performance data for any LifePump equipped with a LifePumpLink. Especially for individuals, families, and organizations who have funded LifePumps, this tool provides an incredible opportunity to see how those funded pumps are performing in the communities they serve.

“The public dashboard is an exciting new landing spot on our website, because it allows everyone—current or future donors, NGO and technology partners, and the general public—to see in a quantifiable way how LifePump is meeting the need for access to clean water around the world,” says Principal Engineer Naja Robinson. “Prior, our dashboard was reserved for implementing NGOs only to monitor their own LifePumps’ usage. But now, with the public dashboard, anyone can see how much water any LifePump community is pumping on a daily basis. They can see how many hours the pump is used, how many gallons of water are being pumped, and they can do this for as far back as the pump’s been monitored. This is just another way DO is providing visibility into the value and impact of the technologies being deployed, impacting thousands of lives. And for donors, in particular, this is a wonderful way for them to feel more connected to the communities they sponsor.”
